Brave New World

I agree with some of the things Aldous Haxley said of the direction we are going in for example overpopulation, drugs and technology. Overpopulation can become a serious thing and can cause us to have low recourses. We might not have enough food or water. Drugs have become more of a problem over the years. Teens are pulled into drugs more easily because they have an easier access to them of their friends tell them to do it. People become addicted easier and want to do drugs constantly because it makes them feel good or because they believe they can’t live without it anymore.
Technology now is more advanced then it was then everyone now has an easier access to it. In one way or another we are easily distracted from what we are doing to go on social media or look at our phones to see if we got a new notification. Anywhere we go you carry your phone with you and we are constantly on it for any reason.  For some people not having their phone on them can become a problem for them because they have become addicted and don’t know what to do without their phones. It can become a greater problem as our technology evolves.

Have to Versus Want to (2/15/17)

The difference between aggreeing to complete work and being told what to do for homework is that you choose what you have to do and how you are going to do it. When you are being told what to do you don’t have the same amount of freedom to decide how to do you own work for yourself. When your told what to do majority of the time there are many people who turn in almost the same thing but when we can do things in a way we want there will be different things we get to write or do work the way we see it.

Nick’s Cardinal Virtue (2/4/19)

Nick’s cardinal virtue is that he is one of the few honest people he has ever known. The events in the book in a way support Nicks claim he hasn’t lied to anyone but he hold in the truth of how he thinks of others. For example Nick doesn’t like Tom he thinks of him as an arrogant person but still is around him and keeps his personal opinions to himself unless he is asked them. Nick is honest when he has to answer a question and he’s honest on his opinions of each individual he meets even if he doesn’t say it to them personally. In my opinion Nick isn’t trying to make himself look good bu saying he is one of the few honest people he’s met but he thinks that due to what he says and acts he’s being truthful.

Gatsby Chapter 4

Gatsby tells Nick that when he meets with Jordan she will tell him something that happened to him but he won’t tell Nick what that is. Nick later when Nick meets with Jordan she tells him that Gatsby wants to see Daisy and that all those parties he threw were in hopes of seeing her again.

What’s so Great About Gatsby

Gatsby is a good person he isn’t the greatest person nor the worst.  In my opinion he’s a good person because in the book we never saw him doing anything out of character and he didn’t drink because he saw Cody, but he was trying to hard to get Daisy to be in love with him again. Gatsby was thinking about the past and how he felt then with Daisy then and wanted to feel that again and wanted Daisy to be his again. I think Nick thinks of himself as an honest person because he doesn’t lie when givohisbopinion or when he is asked things. He isn’t completely honest because he doesn’t say or tell anyone how he really feels towards them or thinks about them. He is around them because he doesn’t want to be left out he wants to be involved in a way with people. Daisy and Tom left after Daisy killed Myrtle because she wanted to run away and let Gatsby take the blame for what she had done. Tom left with her because Myrtle was his mistress and they both didn’t care about the mess they had both caused and without a consideration to anyone they both left leaving everyone else to clean up what they had created. I don’t understand Daisy’s behavior she should have left her husband if she didn’t love him and had feelings toward Gatsby and if she actually loved him she wouldn’t have left after Myrtle had died she would have stayed by her side. Her choices I don’t agree with either if she had a feeling or knew her husband cheated on her she should have divorced him. She is t a person I would let my brother/ son/ or friend date because of how she acted and she didn’t seem to care when Gatsby took the blame for her or when he died. The last line of the book to me means that we move even if we don’t want to because of what we have been through in the past.
