BNW Chapter 8 ideas


1. Bernard asks John to explain everything that happened in his life as far as he can remember. Bernard wants to try and understand everything that goes on in the place he grew up since he doesn’t understand much especially since he grew up in a very different environment.

2. Lenina’s approach toward relationships is that she feels repulsed by it. Where she comes from everyone can be with everyone you can’t be with just one person that is seen as weird.

3. Whenever Pope comes over to visit Linda he brings her mescal a type of alcohol but at first John saw it as a liquid that was weird. Linda and Pope would get drunk and go into her room while John was in the house.

4. John Hayes Pope abs knows that he wants to get rid of him. When John expresses how much he hates him he waits until Pope is asleep and grabs a knife and stabs him. Pope woke up and after stopping him he looked at John and laughed telling him to leave.

5. John reads a William Shakespeare book which shows him how bad and sinful it is to sleep with more than one person. In the book John reads he sees how it affects those who see things like that happen.

6. John says he is alone because no one accepted him as part of their people. They all saw what his mom did and wanted nothing to do with John. They would make fun of home and once threw rocks at him.

7. John wanted to know what it was like to be crucified because he wanted to know how god was able to do our in the sun with his arms out. He was also sad and wanted to feel what god felt when this was happening to him.

8. Bernard proposes to John to come along with him and Lenina back to London.

9. When Bernard tells John that he and Lenina aren’t married John is filled with joy.
